Most conventional traditions of learning considered chanting as a way to connect with our inner self, and the supreme self. In the Vedic tradition it is believed that in the current era called Kaliyuga, it is indeed chanting that will be the main tool for liberation.

Through this section, various chants from the Indian tradition will be shared in good faith for the benefit of the public. None of these are professionally recorded and hence could contain some minor errors.

Gayatri Avahana Mantra

Gayatri, is the form of the rising sun that is honoured through the most renowned Gayatri mantra. The mantra is traditionally used in a procedure called Sandhyavandanam, through which the sun is honoured at different times of the day. A key aspect of this procedure is the Gayatri mantra japa, where the timeless Gayatri mantra is recited a number of times, in order to honour the sun.

Prior to reciting the Gayatri mantra, the Gayatri is invoked into the heart of the practitioner, through this Gayatri Avahana mantra. It praises the power of Gayatri and asks her to enter our heart and shine radiantly within us.
