Most conventional traditions of learning considered chanting as a way to connect with our inner self, and the supreme self. In the Vedic tradition it is believed that in the current era called Kaliyuga, it is indeed chanting that will be the main tool for liberation.

Through this section, various chants from the Indian tradition will be shared in good faith for the benefit of the public. None of these are professionally recorded and hence could contain some minor errors.

Elephant Chant

Lord Ganesa is one of the most loved deities in the Vedic Tradition. He is represented by a form that has a human body fitted with an elephant head. Considered the elder son of Lord Siva and his consort Parvati, Ganesa finds place in most temples around India. He also has millions of little shrines dedicated to him in homes, street corners or even under trees. His popularity is matched only by Hanuman, the monkey God, who is dedicated to Rama.

Lord Ganesa is considered the remover of obstacles, the patron of writing and also an epitome of wisdom and patience.

This chant titled Maha Ganesha Pancaratna Strotram is composed by the great Adi Sankaracarya, and honors the elephant faced lord. The melody and metric of the chant is unique, and resonates with the swaying movements of the elephant.
