Positive Beginning

Dear Friends,

On this auspicious first day of the Tamil New Year, I reach out to you all again with some updates regarding my personal and professional situation. The last seven months have been the most challenging moments of my life, personally and professionally. I have suffered significant losses both in my career as well as in my private life. Through a combination of professional and spiritual healing processes, including a 2420 kilometre long pilgrimage, I have gained deep insights which have been enlightening. But getting there has not been easy.

I realise that some of the decisions that I have made in the past have not been consistent with the high standards that I usually set for myself. I also fully understand and acknowledge that these have had far reaching effects, way beyond myself. There is no way of changing this past. I wholeheartedly repent for what has happened.

These months of silent inquiry have led me to understand very clearly the reasons for these choices. I am now happy to have put in place dependable frameworks that will help avoid such situations in the future.

This process of  self-reflection has also brought great clarity on the responsibility that I hold towards transmitting the great teaching tradition of T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar into the future. I am confident to fulfil this dharma through the grace of my ancestors, and the continued guidance of wise advisors who mentor me now.

While I do sincerely regret some of the choices that I have made in the past, I am grateful for the opportunity it has provided for me to look deeper into myself and emerge a better student of life, and a wiser teacher.

With efficient support systems in place I intend to put an end to my sabbatical and begin to teach officially those who would like to resume studies with me. I will be teaching both independently out of my private office as well as through centres of repute that reach out to me.

I thank you for your patience and continued goodwill,

Kausthub Desikachar
